SHIPSHEWANA - ‘BEFORE’ PHOTOS

of Walls Waiting to Tell A Story

With the help of the Shipshewana Historical Society ... we are working on putting our History on the Walls, too!

At the same time, the placement of the murals is intentionally spread out as a way to encourage our visitors to explore our whole town!

Mural Sites and Subject Matter Finalized

For Walldogs Event In Shipshewana

by Dan Byler

A sixteenth mural was added to original fifteen selected for the Shipshewana Walldogs event slated in June. Shipshewana Walldogs Committee Chair Dan Byler says it is hard to turn down an additional wall when building owners are willing to provide the wall, sponsor the cost of having it painted, and there are still historical subject matters available!

On a bit of an ironic note, the Walldogs event in Shipshewana will be their 21st annual mural fest … and the event will be turning 21 in a dry town! Some new activities for this years’ Walldogs event are a Walldogs softball game and a Walldogs jam session, both tentatively slated for Friday evening of the event. Walldogs … bring your mitts and your guitars!

The final event will be an appreciation dinner held at the Shipshewana Event Center on Saturday evening, June 21 at 6 pm. The public is invited to this dinner. Contact a committee member to purchase dinner tickets. Following the meal, there will be an auction of replicas of each mural as well as the box wagon that has been used to help publicize the event.

Some of the painters like to stay with local people in the area each year. If you would be interested in more information about hosting a Walldog for the June 18-22 event, contact Judy Yoder at Lotions & Potions 260-768-7799 or Click here to sign up to be a host.

Approximately two-thirds of the $75,000 goal needed to fund this event has been reached. The committee is looking for more individual and corporate sponsors. You may contact any of the committee members for a sponsorship form, or go HERE for a form.
